My name is Nkwt'ústen' which means window to the world (eye). It comes from the land, a meadow in the watershed above where I live that viewed from the valley below, looks like an eye. As St'at'imc from Samahquam I am passionate about our people, land and culture. I see the connectedness between who we are (people) with where we come from (land) and how we conduct our selves (culture).
To facilitate doing my part in ensuring responsible use of the natural resources today for the generations yet to come, I began my formal education at Nicola Valley Institute of Technology (NVIT) in the fall of 2006. I then moved on to Thompson Rivers University (TRU) where I completed a Bachelor of Natural Resource Science in the spring of 2012. I specifically chose the field of natural resource science because it encompasses fish, wildlife, water, range, and forest management.
